Jengana was born out of personal experience of life in poverty changed by the compassionate response of many people. It is a Christian charity where Christ's work in our lives compels us to respond in practical ways to restore dignity to people who have lost hope or who are living in extreme poverty. We respond in the following ways:

• Educating orphans- Child sponsorship
• Supporting/encouraging small scale businesses
• Building or restoring schools in poor areas
• Supporting rural churches in Kenya
• Supporting women's self help groups
• Buying anti-retroviral medicines
• Providing opportunities for people to help others in lesser circumstances
• Feeding programmes
