Feeding Programme

One important aspect of our work involves supply and distribution of food to many who are in extreme need.

The word survival barely begins to explain the nature of struggles that are part of every day life for many who live in the slums of Nairobi.

The provision of food is necessary to support all our efforts to alleviate suffering in the slums. It is important for all the children going to school to be fed with food that gives the nutrition that supports their well being both in and out of the classroom. In some cases, it is counter-productive to build schools and not provide food for the children. As a ministry, we have heard street children explain their reasons for not going to school- lack of food, clothing, shelter and good health come on top of the list.

There are many HIV infected people in the slums. Those who are fortunate enough to get anti'retroviral medicine require proper food to support their medication. Our feeding projects aim at supporting such people so as to ensure they build up their immune system as well as to boost their morale and confidence to face each day.

It is a great relief to poor and struggling parents to have someone lift the burden of feeding their children the first two meals of the day. This gives them time to go looking for jobs and other means to support their families.
